Former Prime Minister Kishida visited Deltamas City
July 4, 2025 Indonesia
On May 4th, former Prime Minister Kishida visited the integrated city of Deltamas City in Indonesia, developed by Sojitz, along with members of the AZEC (*1) Parliamentary League. Sojitz Indonesia President Itagaki and other representatives explained Deltamas City and their efforts towards decarbonization, followed by an exchange of opinions. Subsequently, they were guided through the urban development area within the GIIC industrial park, which houses Japanese manufacturing companies and data centers. They also visited the Japanese school, serviced apartments, AEON Mall Deltamas, and rooftop solar installations.
In December 2023, during the AZEC Summit Memorandum Ceremony, Sojitz signed four MOUs, including an agreement with Sinar Mas Land regarding the “Greening Project in Deltamas City and GIIC Industrial Park.” In the fiscal year 2024, utilizing the Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy, Sojitz conducted a decarbonization survey project in the urban development and industrial park of the Deltamas Project, focusing on (1) off-site renewable energy supply, (2) energy-saving (EaaS), and (3) biogas.
Additionally, in collaboration with Nippon Koei and others, Sojitz implemented the “Promotion of Decarbonization in Industrial Parks in ASEAN Countries” (survey project) led by AMEICC (*2), exploring the potential for establishing carbon-neutral industrial park models not only in Indonesia but also in other ASEAN countries such as Vietnam.
Moving forward, Deltamas City aims to serve as a business platform in Indonesia, promoting co-creation within and outside the Sojitz Group in areas such as energy solutions and smart city development. The goal is to develop a mixed-use urban project that includes a carbon-neutral industrial park, representing ASEAN.
(*1) AZEC: Asia Zero Emission Community. A Japanese government-led initiative aiming to achieve energy transition, decarbonization, and carbon neutrality in Asia by leveraging Japan’s zero-emission technologies, systems, and know-how, in collaboration with Asian countries.
(*2) AMEICC: ASEAN-Japan Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee. An organization established under the ASEAN-Japan Economic Ministers’ Meeting to strengthen economic cooperation, support industrial development, and promote trade and investment between ASEAN countries and Japan.
